Those minority groups that stand out

Visible minority

This phrase is commonly used to describe those minority groups who are ‘visible’ meaning that they can be visibly seen tobe different. For instance a black person is a visible minority because of the colour of their skin, which makes them stand out from the majority white community.

Another example of a visible minority is of someone who wears different clothes for say cultural reasons and that makes them stand out in a crowd.

A visible minority is different to that of a invisible minority.
