This phrase is commonly used to describe those minority groups who are ‘visible’ meaning that they can be visibly seen tobe different. For instance a black person is a visible minority because of the colour of their skin, which makes them stand out from the majority white community.
Another example of a visible minority is of someone who wears different clothes for say cultural reasons and that makes them stand out in a crowd.
A visible minority is different to that of a invisible minority.
